A broken clasp, a loose stone, a ring that's stopped fitting the way it used to, these are the small things that sit in a drawer for months because dealing with them feels like a hassle. Nobody plans a special trip for a clasp. So it waits, and waits, until the piece you used to wear every day is just something you own instead of something you use. Most repair shops in Chilliwack and Maple Ridge don't actually fix anything on-site either, they send the real work somewhere else, a third-party workshop you never see, with a turnaround time nobody can really promise because the shop taking your piece isn't the shop doing the work.

At Lanka Jewels, repairs happen in the building. Our own goldsmiths work on-site in Mission, about 25 minutes from both Chilliwack and Maple Ridge via Highway 1 or the Lougheed Highway, and we've been doing this work in the Fraser Valley for over 45 years. Nothing gets boxed up and shipped out while you wait for an update you can't verify, and nobody has to guess what's happening to your jewellery once it's out of sight. You can ask a direct question and get a direct answer, from the person actually holding the tools.

What We Repair

Ring Resizing

Sizing up or down, done in-house by our own goldsmiths rather than mailed out to a workshop you never see. A ring that pinches or spins loose on your finger isn't something to just live with, and most resizing is a more contained job than people expect, especially on a plain band. We size rings every week, it's one of the most common jobs that comes across the bench. See our jewellery repair services for the full list of what we handle, or our dedicated ring resizing page for a full breakdown of how resizing works and which rings can and can't be resized.

Stone Resetting

A loose stone doesn't fix itself, it works its way looser every time the ring knocks against something, until one day it's just gone and you don't even notice until you look down. Whether it's a single prong that's worn down or a full reset across several stones, we catch it before the stone is lost rather than after, and a quick check-up on an older ring's prongs is often enough to prevent the problem entirely.

Chain and Clasp Repair

Broken clasps and snapped links are some of the most common repairs we see, and some of the quickest to fix properly when the soldering is done in-house. A lot of chains come in with a previous glue repair that didn't hold, glue is never the right fix for metal that's meant to flex and move with wear, and a proper solder join holds the way the original manufacturing did.

Rhodium Plating

White gold isn't naturally bright white, it's plated with rhodium to get that finish, and that plating wears down with everyday contact, hand washing, lotion, just normal life. The yellow or grey tint that creeps in over a year or two isn't damage, it's just the plating thinning out, and a re-plate brings the bright white finish straight back. It's routine work for our goldsmiths, not a special order.

Engraving Restoration

Worn engraving on a wedding band or heirloom piece can often be restored or re-cut, bringing back detail that's faded after years of the ring rubbing against other jewellery or just against itself. It's a small detail, but for an inscription with real meaning behind it, legible again matters.

Antique and Inherited Piece Restoration

Older pieces need a different kind of care than something bought last year. Metals and settings from decades ago don't always match modern standards, an old prong style, a setting technique nobody uses anymore, and treating an heirloom the same way as a brand-new ring risks damaging exactly the thing that made it worth keeping. Our goldsmiths assess what a piece actually needs before touching it, rather than running every repair through the same process. Sometimes that means a careful restoration that keeps the original character intact. For pieces that need more than repair, see our custom design service, where a piece can be reworked into something new while the original material, and the history behind it, carries forward.

What Repairs Typically Cost

Repair pricing depends on the piece: the metal, the complexity of the work, and whether a stone needs to be sourced or matched to the original. A simple clasp repair costs less than resetting a stone in an intricate antique setting, and a shop that quotes one flat number for every repair either hasn't looked closely or isn't being straight about it. The honest answer is that the piece decides the price, not a menu.

What we can promise is a real quote before any work starts, not an estimate that changes once the piece is on the bench. Bring it in, or contact us with a description or photo, and we'll give you a straight answer.

Why Chilliwack and Maple Ridge Choose Lanka Jewels

None of this is unusual for a jeweller to claim. What's harder to fake is 45 years of the same families bringing the next repair, the next resize, the next piece worth restoring, back through the same door.

Jewellery Repair for Chilliwack and Maple Ridge

Is there a Lanka Jewels location in Chilliwack or Maple Ridge?

Not yet. Our showroom and repair workshop are in Mission, about 25 minutes from both cities via Highway 1 or the Lougheed Highway. All repair work happens on-site there.

How long does a repair take?

It depends on the repair, a clasp fix is quicker than a full stone reset or restoration. We'll give you a realistic timeframe when you bring the piece in. For more detail on turnaround by repair type, see our jewellery repair services page.

How much does jewellery repair cost?

It varies by piece, metal and complexity, so there's no single honest number to quote here. Bring it in, or send a photo through our Contact Us page, and we'll give you a real quote before any work starts.

Can you repair jewellery I didn't buy from Lanka Jewels?

Yes. We repair and restore jewellery regardless of where it was originally purchased.

Do you repair antique or inherited jewellery?

Yes, older pieces need careful handling and our goldsmiths assess each one individually before starting work, rather than treating a decades-old setting the same as something made last year. For pieces that need more than a repair, our custom design service can also redesign a piece entirely while keeping the original material.

Do you also resize rings?

Yes, sizing up or down is one of our most common repair jobs. See our dedicated ring resizing page for a full breakdown of how it works and which rings can and can't be resized.

What if I'm not sure my piece can be fixed?

Bring it in anyway. A lot of repairs that look hopeless from the outside, a badly bent prong, a chain snapped in several places, are more straightforward to fix than people expect once a goldsmith actually looks at them. We'll give you a straight answer either way.
